West Tampa Tobacco Co. leans deep into local roots with its latest limited release: the Devil Crab cigar. Launched in 2025, this short, stout figurado is the second entry in the brand’s “Chef Rick” series—named after co-founder and master blender Rick Rodriguez. Just like its namesake dish, the Devil Crab cigar is a bold, flavorful nod to Tampa’s Ybor City, where deviled crab croquettes became an iconic comfort food during the cigar strikes of the 1920s.
Crafted at the Garmendia Cigar Co. factory in Nicaragua, the Devil Crab cigar arrives in a 4½" x 60 pig-tailed perfecto format. While the blend remains undisclosed, the presentation includes a clever twist—a recipe card for making traditional devil crab, bridging the gap between Tampa’s culinary and cigar cultures. This is a limited-production run, but additional batches may follow based on demand.
What does the West Tampa Devil Crab cigar taste like?
Expect a medium-to-full-bodied smoke with rich, savory character. The Devil Crab cigar's flavor profile mirrors its culinary inspiration: spice-forward, earthy, with a touch of sweetness and heat. The stout figurado shape delivers a concentrated draw and evolving flavor transitions, making it a short-format cigar that smokes longer than you’d expect. It’s equal parts tribute, storytelling, and flavor bomb—a true taste of Tampa in every puff.
