The Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Secret Cask cigar is a return to one of the most important moments in the company’s modern history. Originally created in 2013 to celebrate Joya de Nicaragua’s 45th anniversary, the Cuatro Cinco Edición Limitada became the foundation of the brand’s Obras Maestras series and quickly earned a reputation for depth, elegance, and character. While that original release eventually evolved into the Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial, the memory of the first barrel-aged expression never faded. Secret Cask revisits that origin story, drawing directly from tobaccos that were intentionally set aside more than a decade ago for a future project.
The Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Secret Cask cigar returns to the original all-Nicaraguan blend, featuring Nicaraguan wrapper, binder, and filler tobaccos grown and aged entirely by the Joya team. Select leaves (particularly the ligero) were extra-aged in charred oak barrels that previously held spirits, allowing time and controlled conditions to deepen the tobacco’s character. Crafted at Joya de Nicaragua’s historic factory in Estelí and rolled by senior torcedores, the cigar is presented in the same box-pressed format that defined the original Edición Limitada release.
What does the Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Secret Cask cigar taste like?
The Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Secret Cask cigar delivers a medium-to-full-bodied profile built around richness and balance. Early draws reveal layers of toasted wood, subtle sweetness, and earthy depth, followed by hints of spice and a rounded, oak-driven character influenced by the barrel aging. As the cigar develops, the texture becomes increasingly smooth, with a velvety finish that lingers without sharpness. The overall experience is refined and cohesive, offering complexity that unfolds gradually and rewarding a slow, attentive smoke—an expression shaped as much by time as by blending skill.
